McFun Night raised $1,848 for Brighter Futures Foundation

APRIL 23, 2019:

A new playground is one step closer following the Wednesday, April 17, “Funraiser” at the Wagoner McDonald’s.

The event was to raise funds to purchase new playground equipment for the Lincoln Enrichment Center, located at 902 MLK Blvd.

There were board games, card games, coloring art sheets, and a lot of conversation and laughter. There were over 100 in attendance in the lobby alone, and even more at the drive-through lanes.“It was a true blessing to be able to host this event for Brighter Futures of Wagoner. I am inspired by their mission and what they do for kids in our community because they are our future. Exciting things are happening in our community and it’s organizations like Brighter Futures that are leading the way,” said McDonald’s owner, David Hadley.

Hadley later presented the children of the Brighter Futures Foundation with a donation of $1,000 for the playground. There currently is no playground equipment at the Lincoln Enrichment Center.

“I am continually touched and encouraged to witness the generosity of our community. It was wonderful to see people of all ages, backgrounds, and interests come together in a true community effort. To date, our community has donated over $32,000 of the $70,000 total cost of the project,” said John W. Jones, President of the Brighter Futures Foundation.

A raffle was held at the end of the evening. The following organizations donated items for the drawing — the Wagoner Art Alliance, Kevin Grover GMC, Buffalo Wings in Muskogee, Chili’s Restaurant in Muskogee, Colton’s Steakhouse, and the Lincoln Enrichment Center. McDonald’s Gift Cards, provided by the Brighter Futures Foundation, were also distributed to families throughout the evening.

“Not only will the playground serve Brighter Futures and our community, but will be an integral asset to the Boys and Girls Club of Wagoner, which we are working to start here,” said Jones.
